I'm Back!

Updated: Jan 8, 2024

I've been gone a while, and I wasn't inspired to write, so I didn't. The world is still ending and people are showing their true colours, so things that have annoyed me are still going strong, and I wish to share.

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

I've always hated the terms 'turn the other cheek' or 'God will punish them'.

As someone who's an atheist, I don't have the time nor do I believe in waiting for people to get theirs in the afterlife when I can do it myself here on earth. Why must I wait for divine intervention? If you can deal with a situation at hand, why not handle it yourself? Unless your action is illegal, then I suggest you don't get caught. Granted, some people cannot handle the guilt, or they have this little thing called consciousness, but I do not. “Hurting them will not heal your pain”.  Yes, it will. Not only will it heal me, I can guarantee you I'll feel better!

What if seeing them in pain brings me joy? A joy so warm and embracing that it dims the pain they caused? These are important questions I ask people when discussing getting even, yet they never seem to have a logical non-religious response. Don't get me wrong, I understand why it's proposed, to not rain vengeance on others, but as Newton's third law states: every action has an equal and opposite reaction. I am the reaction.

Words have meaning, know them before you use them.

With the ever-growing machine that is social media and specifically Twitter, we are learning new things every single day. With advanced knowledge comes new insights and different perspectives. We are constantly learning new words that ordinarily were not in our lexicon, however, with great knowledge comes great idiocy.

A statement my dear father (he's not dead) regularly cemented in my mind growing up was; 'If you're going to be dumb, don't also be stupid'. What that means is, to choose a struggle.

Words that are currently trending on Twitter such as; toxic masculinity, misogyny, and surprisingly, the actual definition of racism. They're also making up words like reverse racism (there's no such thing). People are constantly using the wrong words or overusing them without the correct context or meaning. One of my biggest pet peeves that I'm working on in therapy (shout out to mental health) is coping with people who form opinions on topics they do not know, social media has given us access to people's unfiltered thoughts and opinions, and it is one of the downfalls of civilization.

Incompetence.

I cannot stand incompetent people, If you are getting paid for a job I assume that you know how to do said job, so when simple tasks don't get done I get HEATED!!

Why is common sense not common? Why can you not use initiative? I have a feeling that some people are deliberately incompetent, they want others to not seek them when needing a task done, that is weaponized incompetence and that shit doesn't fly with me. I will shame you into doing better because you are wasting my time and energy.

Incompetent managers help spread the useless disease, I despise managers who don't know how to manage their team members and, due to their lack of skills, defer to workers who can do their job. It's obvious that companies hire people sometimes based on nepotism (nepotism rules the world) but not on their ability to manage a team to bring out their best qualities. A useless manager will destroy a great team.

Mind your own.

Minding your business is free.

I know we are in a time when people feel the need to tell everyone everything, and that in itself creates an expectation that we all need to participate in everyone's life. No.

Mind the business that pays you. My lack of interest in people could be because I do not care and not the 'I don't care' trying to be cool, I generally don't care enough about certain people or things to need information about their life. People were in their feelings when Virgil Abloh and Chadwick Boseman died, and we weren't informed that they were sick; Why didn't he tell us? As fans, we should know!

What makes you feel so entitled that you need to know the personal trials and struggles in one's life? Why are you that invested in the lives of people that you do not know? Social media created a space of delusion and parasocial relationships and people think they not only know these celebrities, but they should know about their life. If you do not know, I will tell you, people do not owe you anything.

I don't know about you, but I feel better getting that off my chest.
