Pet Peeve; something that a particular person finds especially annoying.
Where do I begin?
1. White people wearing dreads/locs/braids.
Whenever I see it, it makes my skin itch. They don't look cute, they look dusty, and they look like they smell. They do not know how to keep it tidy, and it just wasn't meant for their hair. Please just stick to the styles and waves that you're used to.
2. People's opinions.
Let me explain. When having a discussion and/or argument I try to be a very logical thinker, I approach an argument with facts, and when you come up with opinions based solely on emotions, I completely shut down. Please do not come to me about your feelings in a dispute when I need evidence. This is one of the main reasons I'm an atheist.
3. Laying on my bed.
When people enter my compound (home) and they want to sit on my bed in their OUTSIDE clothes, I perceive that as you want to fight me. Let's square up!
Do you know how disgusting that is? My sheets are white, changed weekly, and you want to bring that nasty debris to where I lay my head? I am getting angry thinking about it, let's move on.
4. Slow walkers.
One of the main reasons I don't like leaving my house is the possibility I might end up behind someone slow or even worse, idiots who just STOPS in the middle of the pavement. ARE YOU DUMB? If you're going to stop you have to somewhat indicate you are stopping and move over to the side, it's very simple.
5. Humans.
6. People who don't "see" race/colour.
Choke. Whenever I hear people say they don't see race, I immediately believe they're racist. Am I invisible? Why are you trying to negate my life, my experiences, or even the traumas I face because of racial and social inequalities? Please take a long walk off a short ledge.
7. Not wanting to enjoy anything that's not in English (or native language).
Childish. I am someone who likes vibes, if a song moves me, I am not blocked by the fact it's not in English, the same goes for movies. All you have to do is read, is that hard? You know what, given that most adults can't read above the 9th grade, this makes sense.
8. Coughing or sneezing without covering your mouth.
Gross. Before we were in this panini press (pandemic) it was disgusting, but now it feels like a crime, and you should go to jail. This is a basic practice we are taught as children, and you still can't do it? Fire your parents.
9. CC'ing.
Are you mad? I had a coworker who would constantly ask something of me and purposefully cc my manager in the email for me to respond. I never did anything she asked and she never asked me in person so I guess it wasn't important. Clown.
10. TikTok buzz words.
When someone learns a new word on TikTok or any social media platform and then immediately uses it without knowing the meaning or even in the right context, it makes me itch. Stop it. Google is Free.
